Coordinators are the heart of this tradition, helping neighbors join together in a simple but powerful act of solidarity. By organizing luminary kit sales and distribution in your community, you make it easy for families, friends, and neighbors to take part. Below are two straightforward ways you can coordinate sales—choose the approach that works best for you.
How to Be a Coordinator
There are two simple ways to sell luminary kits in your neighborhood. In both cases, all kits must be picked up in person at Younity’s administrative office in Lawrenceville. Kits are not mailed. Payments must be arranged with Younity staff — either by delivering cash/checks in person or by setting up an online/credit card payment through our administrative team.
Option A: Take Orders First
- Ask neighbors if they would like to participate.
- Collect their names, contact information, and $12 per kit.
- Arrange payment with Younity staff by the pickup deadline (deliver funds in person or set up an online/credit card payment by contacting development@younitynj.org).
- Pick up exactly the number of kits your neighborhood ordered from the Lawrenceville office.
- Deliver the kits to your neighbors so they are ready for Lighting Night.
This option is low-risk: you only purchase the number of kits already paid for by neighbors.
Option B: Buy Kits Up Front
- Decide how many kits you would like to purchase.
- Pay Younity directly ($12 per kit) by arranging an online/credit card payment with our staff at development@younitynj.org or by paying in person at the Lawrenceville office.
- Pick up your kits in advance.
- Sell them in your neighborhood at the same $12 price.
- Keep the proceeds and distribute the kits to buyers.
This option provides flexibility, allowing you to keep kits on hand for quick sales.
Important Notes
- Each $12 kit contains supplies for 6 luminaries (about 100 feet of light).
- Plan to pick up your kits by the listed pickup dates.
- Remind neighbors to light their luminaries at sundown on Lighting Night.
