Pathways to Healing: Comprehensive Counseling and Support Services
Younity offers free, comprehensive, non-residential Counseling and Support Services designed to help victim-survivors of domestic and sexual violence on their path to healing. These services include short- and long-term individual, family, and group counseling; crisis intervention; and advocacy. Our team provides tailored support to people of all backgrounds, offering services in English and Spanish and ensuring access to holistic resources in partnership with other community organizations. Through these services, Younity helps individuals rebuild their lives.
Individual Counseling
Our licensed counselors work one-on-one with individuals to explore their experiences, develop coping strategies, and foster personal empowerment that address their unique needs. Whether they are for domestic or sexual violence support, these confidential sessions offer a safe space for healing during crisis intervention or long-term recovery.
Group Counseling
Group counseling is a cornerstone of our approach. It provides a supportive environment where victim-survivors can share experiences and receive guidance. These groups foster community and healing, empowering participants through mutual support and empathy.
Innovative Therapies: EMDR
Younity offers specialized counseling methods, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a highly effective therapy for trauma recovery. EMDR helps the brain process and release traumatic memories, reducing their emotional impact. During this therapy, a trained counselor guides the individual through specific eye movements while recalling the traumatic experience. This process helps reframe and heal from trauma, allowing many to feel relief and recover faster. One of our counselors is certified in EMDR, providing this advanced therapy to those who may benefit from it.
Counseling for Children & Teens
Children and teens can be deeply affected by domestic and sexual violence, whether they experience it directly, witness or overhear violence, or live with the fear and instability it can create.
Younity provides age-appropriate, trauma-informed counseling to help children and teens process their experiences, express their feelings, and begin to heal. Depending on each child’s needs, counselors may incorporate play therapy, art therapy, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and other therapeutic approaches.
Because a child’s healing is closely connected to their family’s well-being, our counselors also work with parents and guardians to help them understand and support their child’s recovery.
Children and teens may be connected to counseling through a parent or guardian receiving Younity services or through one of Younity’s housing programs. Parents and guardians can speak with their counselor or advocate about available services and the referral process.
